The students of teacher No. 67 tired of the insecurity in the Yapeyú neighborhood

The Higher Teaching Institute No. 67 operates in EESO No. 265 in the Yapeyú neighborhood, in the city of Santa Fe. Between 500 and 600 students attend to study Nursing and Higher Technician in Hygiene and Safety at Work.

They enter at 6:20 p.m. to the institution located at 12 de Octubre 9400 and leave at 9:20 p.m. “There is no lighting outside the school. On Tuesday, a young woman crossed the kiosk to load the bus, a boy on a bicycle stole her cell phone and ran away. Two weeks ago they attacked a teacher who was waiting for the bus“At the same time, they were trying to steal a girl’s bicycle in front of her,” said Silvia, one of the students, on AIRE.

Gerardo Lovino is the director of EESO No. 265. According to the director, since he taught at the institution 22 years ago, there has always been insecurity.

According to the interviewee, when they leave the course they do not see patrols, added to the fact that the block of the educational establishment has poor lighting and they are at the mercy of criminals. “We have to take care of each other, let each other know through WhatsApp groups if something happens.”

Gerardo Lovino is the director of EESO No. 265 and recognizes that there are criminal acts, but assures that “Insecurity is installed in all the neighborhoods of Santa Fe. When they leave they suffer insecurity. It happens that being a teacher they come from different neighborhoods in motorcycle, which means danger,” Lovino said on AIRE.

Regarding the patrols, the director distances his opinion from the student. He considers that there are patrols but that the police cannot be patrolling the surroundings of the teachers full time because they must attend to other needs of the Yapeyú neighborhood.

“In the square there is a detachment and the police patrol. It is not continuous because the neighborhood has its needs. I have been a teacher for 22 years and there has always been insecurity in the area,” said Lovino.
