More Flora Cordobesa: a new urban forest is born in the city of Córdoba – News Web

  • Located in the Rosedal neighborhood, the green space now has trees and plants native to the province.
  • In addition, it will have an educational trail and informative signage.
  • The initiative arises from the coordinated work between the provincial environmental portfolio and the Municipality of Córdoba.

Within the framework of the Más Flora Cordobesa program that is being implemented by the Ministry of Environment and Circular Economy, an urban forest was inaugurated in Barrio Rosedal.

This initiative is carried out through coordinated work between the provincial environmental portfolio and the Secretariat of Sustainable Environment and Circular Economy, of the Municipality of Córdoba.

The green space will have an educational trail and informative signage about species of trees and native plants that can be found, and that correspond to two phytogeographic regions of the province of Córdoba: the spinal and the mountain forest.

In addition, the urban forest will function as an open classroom in nature, where environmental education activities can be carried out with schools in the area, revaluing the identity of our natural and cultural heritage.

It should be noted that the property was used for some years as a micro dump, and was recovered by the neighborhood center and neighbors in 2018, when the sanitation, the placement of lights and a first planting of native trees were carried out.

Now, with the inauguration of the urban forest, the space becomes a place of natural and socio-cultural interest, which provides ecological and social benefits to the neighbors, improving their quality of life.

Minister Victoria Flores thanked all the institutions that promoted this project and maintained that “The creation of this urban forest made it possible to ecologically restore a degraded area, because what until a few years ago was a garbage dump, today is a green space with great value.”

“That is why we invite the entire community to take care of these trees; know that when you take care of them, you are also protecting the air, the soil, the water, the common home.”he added.

In turn, Jorge Folloni, Secretary of Sustainable Environment of the Municipality of Córdoba, expressed the willingness to continue working together to promote the generation of many more green spaces and continue promoting the transformation of the city.
