The Government of Río Negro provided more details about the “medical certificate factory” denounced by the governor, Alberto Weretilneck earlier this month. The irregularity involves the issuance of certificates fake doctors that were sold to Public Administration employees to justify absences from work.
The Secretary of Public Function, Tania Lastra, explained that the certificates They had a “variable price” depending on the number of days of leave and the specialty or pathology indicated. Those that indicated a psychiatric illness were the most valuable, the official mentioned.
The detection of this illicit activity began when it was observed, in the midst of the changes due to the assumption of the new management, that numerous state employees were being treated by the same doctor in different parts of the province. The majority were issued in the Alto Valle area and the city of Bariloche.
The Medical Boards, under the supervision of the Public Service, detected irregularities when they noticed the issuance of up to 30 certificates diaries by some doctors. “We found a factory of certificates that were sold to public agents who requested them,” said Lastra.
Based on this fact, the Government has paid special attention to the number of certificates doctors received in the human resources areas of each ministry to counteract absenteeism in the workplace. “Presenteeism is crucial for the proper functioning of services such as Health, Safety and Education,” they stated. from the executive.
