A 20-year-old young man was brutally beaten last Monday, around 6 in the morning, at the exit of a well-known bar on 3800 Rafael Núñez Avenue, in the Alto Palermo neighborhood, northern area of the city of Córdoba, in a new case of urban violence that is under investigation.

His attackers would have been at least four men with whom minutes before he had had an argument.

There are no arrests or charges for this new act of violence. Investigators are working in the area to collect testimonies.

They seek to reveal if there was a previous connection between the aggressors and the victim. They believe that the images collected from security cameras in the area will be crucial to the investigation.

It all began with a strong exchange of words, where the victim, identified by police sources as Santiago Daniel Fernández (20), was threatened with death.

The discussion, occasional witnesses said, began at the door of the restaurant.

It remains to be established whether it was a reproach towards a group of acquaintances or whether it was a sudden spurt of the moment, which occurred within the commercial facilities.

The exchange of words increased in virulence. Screams and pushing appeared.

The victim managed to turn around and leave.

However, the group of attackers would have prevented that from happening. It all ended with a beating.

Even though they saw him fall to the ground, his attackers were vicious and did not stop their aggression.

“They hit him on the head but they also kicked him on the ground. They wouldn’t let him go for anything in the world,” they said at the scene.

At least one strong fist hit his head, causing an immediate shock.

Standing next to him, his 20-year-old girlfriend was screaming for help. Everything happened very quickly.

The gang that had attacked him fled when they noticed the blood dripping from the victim’s head.

As a result of the virulent attack, Santiago had to be immediately referred to the Emergency Hospital by the 107 emergency service.

That same morning, when they saw him enter the medical center with a severe blow to the head, with weakened vital signs, the doctors knew that the case was complex.

He is on assisted breathing and in a coma.

The medical diagnosis is reserved and outside the medical center his relatives are only waiting for a miracle.

Pain and anger also invade them. No one in the inner circle can explain why going to a bar had to end with such an outcome.

Violence in the streets

Far from the family, but with the same degree of concern, in the Security area there is concern about the series of violent acts in the urban night.

The last case occurred in the San Martín Annex neighborhood, north of the Capital. It all ended in a regrettable crime.

Alexis Jesús González (29) was attacked by a gang last weekend. They chased him out of a private party.

For reasons that remain to be established, inside a home located in Colombres at 2500 there was a series of violent incitements.

When Alexis wanted to leave the place, according to his relatives, a group went to prevent him. “It was a fight. “He defended himself,” said relatives of the victim, while at the same time ruling out any type of criminal history in the deceased’s history.

After the fight, a motorcycle followed him through the streets of the San Martín neighborhood. Someone came down and hit him with a knife.

He was left lying on the sidewalk, unconscious. Later the 107 emergency service confirmed his death.

Last Monday, the Police Homicide Department confirmed the arrest of a 22-year-old man for alleged perpetrator of the crime.
