As part of his two-day visit to Cauca, President Gustavo Petro toured the municipality of Miranda for several minutes. Specifically, the president visited the department’s Police substation, which was the target of a bloody attack by members of the dissident faction of the extinct FARC led by ‘Iván Mordisco’.

“President Gustavo Petro arrived in Morales, Cauca, to directly address the public order situation in the face of recent attacks against authorities and the civilian population of this department,” reported the Presidency’s social networks.

In images and videos, the president can be seen along with the commander of the National Police, General William Salamanca, touring one of the areas that felt the violence of the terrorist attack most strongly. These are surrounded by an extensive security scheme that deployed Kevlar shields to prevent possible snipers.

On Monday morning, the ‘Mordisco’ dissidents attacked the Morales Police substation, Cauca. The terrorist action left two uniformed officers and two detainees dead. The attack was accompanied by an action against the headquarters of Banco Agrario, which included the theft of 50 million pesos from the ATM.
