The downpour that hit the Aburrá Valley on the night of this Thursday, May 23, left at least seven sectors of the municipality under water. As reported by emergency agencies, it was a night of unease and chaos in Bello for dozens of families and particularly for the family of a seven-year-old minor who ended up swept away by the La García ravine.

The incident occurred in the El Trapiche neighborhood. The downpour once again overflowed this stream that three weeks ago had caused the first major emergencies of this winter wave in the municipality, dleaving at least ten families on the street who lost everything when the flood took away their homes. Once again, La García wreaked havoc on several houses and caused the partial collapse of the house in which the minor was located, who was dragged by the current while dozens of people desperately tried to locate him somewhere in the channel.

On video, it was recorded how the residents of the area try to shine their cell phone flashlights in search of any trace of the child, while others desperately ask for a link and as the minutes pass, they arrive. people with shovels and other elements that could be used to carry out the search.

Minutes later, fire crews joined the search, 2 Civil Defense crews and the National Police carried out the search work.

According to the municipality’s Risk Management Secretary, Alexánder Osorio, emergency agencies had to attend to at least seven sectors due to partial damage to homes and also reported an injured person who suffered fractures in the middle of the emergency. In addition to the El Trapiche neighborhood, according to Osorio, two other critical points were Playa Rica and Bellavista. There the water washed away part of several homes and some people had to be taken to hospitals.

Through social networks, residents of the municipality reported losses of cars and motorcycles, as well as serious structural damage to houses in the Villas de Comfenalco, Baladares and El Tapón neighborhoods. The rural area of ​​the municipality also suffered havoc with the loss of banks in several villages.

In Medellín they did not escape the emergencies. Several neighborhoods flooded again as was customary and in some neighborhoods in the north and northeast they reported flooded streets.

According to Siata, the downpour that began at 7:30 pm lasted until after 2:00 am. The Aburrá Valley was barely recovering from the other downpour that hit between noon and 5:00 pm and that generated emergencies in La Estrella and Sabaneta.

In Eastern Antioquia they also spent the night awake. In Rionegro, the winds destroyed several commercial premises in the UCO sector. In this municipality, at least 20 houses are at high risk of collapse in the José María Córdova sector and in several residential units they reported cracks in the walls due to water seepage.

Mobility in the Near East was collapsed due to the fall of poles, flooding on the roads and the loss of banking in several sectors that affected not only Rionegro, but other municipalities such as Guarne and Marinilla.
