The history of the former paramilitary murdered in the attack on Jorge Alfonso López, son of La Gata

He dodged the bullets and three people received them: Edelmiro Anaya González, one of his alleged visitors; Eduar Yesid Villa, a private bodyguard who protected him, and a civilian who had no relationship with the scene. The first two lost their lives instantly and the last was wounded without further complications.

Among many things, the name of Edelmiro Anaya González has drawn attention, known by the alias Chino Anaya. He was 57 years old and had six children; he had studied commerce for four years at the National Police Welfare College. His life was marked by crime and feared pacts with crime.

This man was a member of the extinct Heroes of the Montes de María Block of the United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (AUC). In the ordinary justice system alone, he accumulated eleven convictions for events that occurred between 2003 and 2004 in the city of Sincelejo and the rest of the municipalities in the department of Sucre.

During his lifetime, González added a record for the crimes of conspiracy to commit a crime (10), homicide (5), false testimony (1), extortion (1), threats (1), personal injury (1), insult (1) and lack of food assistance (1). Most of them linked to the illegal activities he carried out when he was a paramilitary.

For this episode, two people were captured: Eber Manuel Pulgar and Leiber Enrique Acuña. There are still no arrests for the murder and a judicial team is on the trail of those responsible, who pretended to be police officers and covered their faces with masks so as not to be exposed to the security cameras.

The authorities offered a reward of up to fifteen million pesos in exchange for accurate information that facilitates the location of the possible protagonists of the crime. There are seven people who today draw the attention of detectives, among them a woman who would have served as logistical support for the gang of hitmen.

All the evidence indicates that the objective of the criminals was to murder Jorge Alfonso López, today convicted of the murder of a journalist that occurred in 2005. He is asking the JEP for clues to tell his truth and President Gustavo Petro assured that the attempted murder would seek to censor his testimony.

“Those who attack Jorge Luis López, a candidate to confess this hidden reality before the JEP, want to silence the truth,” the president wrote on his social networks on May 23, minutes after the shocking event that shook the city became known. from Barranquilla.
