Influenza vaccination coverage reaches 54.1% progress in Los Ríos

The Deputy Regional Ministerial Secretary, Dr. Denise Herrmann, reported that in an epidemiological week where viral circulation, especially Influenza Type A, remains high, regional vaccination coverage against Influenza exceeded 50% of inoculated people, specifically reaching 54.1% progress.

This percentage is equivalent to 119,731 vaccinated people out of a total of 221,424 people considered in risk groups, to whom all messages encouraging vaccination are directed, since Influenza can aggravate underlying pathological conditions. “The priority groups for vaccination are determined due to the risk they have if they contract the virus and although the vaccine does not prevent contagion, it does prepare the immune system so that it can defend itself against the virus and not become seriously ill,” he explains. Dr. Herrmann.

In turn, the manager of the National Immunization Program of the SEREMI de Salud, Stefanía Luengo, stated that “vaccines are a good tool to help control viral transmission, that is why we want to reach people, approaching them with extramural operations. “in charge of Cesfam and the Health Service, but they aim to inoculate people in a timely manner so that before winter they can strengthen their immune system.”

People who belong to one of the risk groups prioritized for this campaign can be inoculated for free, regardless of health forecast, in all vaccination centers of the Public Health Care Network located in Primary Health Care establishments ( APS), as well as in extramural vaccination points and in private vaccination centers in agreement with SEREMI de Salud Los Rios: Surmedica, RedSalud and Clínica Alemana in Valdivia.
