Inclusive language within classrooms has been a topic of debate in recent years. This Friday it was known, through a resolution issued in the Official bulletin that in Higher Education in Mendoza, inclusive language (e, @, ox to replace sex) will be vetoed in the preparation of degrees and also certificates for teaching or technical degrees. The reason, according to the document, is to achieve international homologation of the titles issued in Mendoza.

The resolution signed by the Minister of Education and head of the General Directorate of Schools, Tadeo García Zalazar, highlights that according to the agreement with Mercosur in 2018 for the recognition of studies, degrees and diplomas, it is applicable to the Argentine Republic in the following situations :

to. Higher-level Technical-Professional Education Pathways: paths that culminate with the title of “Higher Technician in…”

b. Higher level Teacher Training Careers: careers that culminate with the title of “Teacher of…”.

Regarding the resolution, Tadeo García Zalazar determined that the first article of the resolution establishes that: “For the preparation of titles and analytical certificates of the Higher Level in the Province of Mendoza that accredit initial training courses in teaching and technical degrees, The masculine – feminine denomination that the Royal Spanish Academy allows must be used, according to the following example: Professor – Technician.

The resolution of the DGE.

At the same time, it highlights that it is necessary in the jurisdiction to adapt formal aspects in the preparation of degrees and analytical certificates issued to accredit the trajectories of higher level students in such a way as to facilitate the application of the aforementioned framework agreement for those who emigrate to countries members.

“The approval that is intended to be carried out does not contradict the current regulations for the preparation of analytical titles and certificates nor does it imply modification in the system used for uploading and storing documents for these,” the measure considers.

This could imply international recognition of the titles issued in the province, as long as what is established by Mercosur is complied with. The DGE highlighted that it does not imply a change in the system used, but a necessary adaptation for international homologation between the Mercosur countries.
