Cuban woman died stabbed by her ex-partner in Santiago de Cuba

In the last hours, the death of María Emilia Sabigne, the young Cuban mother who was brutally stabbed by her ex-husband in the city of Santiago de Cuba this week.

This was announced through social networks by Cuban journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labra, who stated that the woman was the mother of three children.

According to the report, María Emilia would have died after 9:20 in the morning this Friday after being unable to overcome another cardiorespiratory arrest after having undergone surgery for the stab wounds she received in the neck from her ex-partner.

The woman, who was just 38 years old this May, had filed a complaint with the Castro police weeks before, but even that was not an impediment for her ex-husband to make an attempt on her life.

It should be remembered that it was Thursday morning when María Emilia Sabigne received several stab wounds from her ex-husband, and father of one of her children, at a bus stop in “La Rotonda” on Carretera del Morro.

Apparently, the aggressor, identified as Yoel Menéndez Rivera, was waiting for her at the scene to attack her. At the site of the attack, the woman arrived accompanied by one of her children and her current one.

“The guy tried to cut her throat, he was waiting there for her it seems early because everything happened around 7 in the morning and everything happened very quickly,” a witness to the event told journalist Mayeta.

Presumably, the attacker is currently detained, but the Castro authorities have not offered details about this case that is mourning a family in Santiago de Cuba.

These events continue to show the high rates of violence that continue to be recorded on the communist island, while the Castro authorities do not take any effective action to prevent regrettable events.
