(ADN).- “The mortality of SMEs is on track to be higher than in the pandemic,” said the president of the Federation of Business Entities of Río Negro, Wálter Sequeira, and CAME representative in the region.

In dialogue with the Puertas Abiertas program, which is broadcast on FM Raíces de Viedma, the tourism business owner in Las Grutas highlighted that the increase in costs, especially rates, for both electricity and gas will severely affect the sector.

“We have great concern,” he admitted while expressing that “destinations that are not in season are going to have to see how they continue, in the Andean area it will also affect but not as much and at a national level what is happening is very worrying.”

He added that to this dramatic panorama is added “the 30 percent drop in activity in many sectors and the cost of services, which in energy is 600 percent, 1,000 percent in gas. “What is going to happen to SMEs related to tourism, as well as other activities, is very worrying.”

He asked the national government to put “its feet on the ground and see what it is going to do with SMEs. To make matters worse, fuel increases also affect tourism,” he said, recognizing the sharp drop in demand.

On the other hand, Sequeira reported on the meeting held days ago with provincial authorities and representatives of the Municipalities of Viedma, Sierra Grande and San Antonio Oeste, to establish a tourist corridor that allows the Atlantic coast to be disseminated as a whole.

“There has been talk for a long time about working on a corridor, an idea that was strengthened after the declaration of Lobos Islet as a national park. Soon the first departure will be made from Playas Doradas by sea to that site, to carry out sightings of the penguin colony. The Cota Cero company is the one that has permission to make that first excursion,” he reported.

Businessmen in the sector asked to move forward with the continuity of Route 1 from Las Grutas to Playas Doradas, and they are also thinking about the dissemination of the Islet as an alternative to Punta Tombo. “We would have to work with Environment so that it does not say no to everything and that some project is allowed so that it can be exploited, without affecting the natural environment,” he concluded.
