This project will generate 30% of the energy necessary for its daily operations, thus marking a milestone in its commitment to renewable energy.

The purpose of this initiative is to advance towards the energy transition and reduce the carbon footprint on the environment. With an estimated annual production of 1,428 MWh, the solar farm located in the municipality of Villa Rica will allow Harineras del Valle to generate 30% of the energy necessary for its daily operations.

Herberto Balanta, Secretary of Environmental and Economic Agricultural Development of this municipality, highlighted that this initiative, led by Harineras del Valle, supported by Gases de Occidente and Promigas, highlights the commitment of these companies to a cleaner and more sustainable future: “Through of environmentally friendly energy projects, demonstrate their active contribution to the conservation of the planet and the sustainable economic development of our municipality.”

In Villa Rica, the Harineras del Valle company took a significant step towards environmental sustainability by inaugurating its first solar farm. Built by Gases de Occidente, with financing from Promigas, this facility occupies an area of ​​6 thousand square meters and houses 1,666 solar panels, with an installed capacity of 999.6 kWp.

It is worth noting that it is estimated that with the reduction of CO2 emissions equivalent to 571.2 tons per year, it would be contributing to the equivalent of planting 11,424 trees per year, thus strengthening the fight against climate change.

Juan Carlos Henao, general manager of Harineras del Valle, highlighted the importance of this achievement for the company and the region. “Making the dream of inaugurating our first solar farm a reality fills us with immense pride. We are moving decisively towards a renewable energy transition, a crucial component to achieve sustainable economic growth.”

For Pilar Rodríguez, general manager of Gases de Occidente, this project reflects a growing trend in the region towards the use of solar energy in industry. “Every day more industries are planning to use solar energy, not only because of the savings in production costs, but because it means working on more sustainable production processes.”
