The cultural managers and makers of Baranoa received with joy the news that Governor Eduardo Verano delivered during his visit to the ‘Joyful Heart of the Atlantic’: to build a cultural center, which will undoubtedly be a work of great social impact that will result from the articulated work between the Secretariat of Culture and Heritage of the Government of Atlántico and the Mayor’s Office of Baranoa.

It will have a total area of ​​2 thousand square meters, two additional cultural spaces, the House of Culture and the Manuel Patrocinio Algarín square; stage where the ‘Loa de Baranoa’ is traditionally performed; staging of the story of the Three Wise Men.

“This Atlantic cultural center is a dream of the cultural managers and makers of Baranoa, an Atlantic municipality that is an international reference for our culture. Therefore, we will join forces to make this project a reality because the objective is to protect the historical memory of our ancestors. , of our folklore, of our music, as well as providing Atlantic residents and tourists with a safe space where they can carry out and enjoy recreational, cultural, artistic, technological activities and thus have a good use of their free time and healthy coexistence,” Summer emphasized. .

The Secretary of Culture and Heritage of Atlántico explained that the Atlantic cultural center will be located in the 11 de Noviembre neighborhood where the House of Culture currently operates in an existing area of ​​973 square meters and the projected expansion is an additional 1,013 square meters. for a total of 1,987 square meters that will have basic spaces for the delivery of educational training services, classrooms, art, painting, theater, literature, music and dance, among others.

“From the Secretariat of Culture and Heritage of the Atlantic we seek to make this a place aimed at strengthening the cultural heritage of the region, and the exchange of knowledge about artistic creation on the Colombian Caribbean coast. It will be the epicenter where the attending public, families and tourists from all over the world will enjoy activities to encourage reading, music, art and literature, through conferences, exhibitions, guided tours, workshops for children and adults, and all the benefits of folklore, large-scale cultural tourism,” Cantillo pointed out.

The mayor of Baranoa, Edinson Palma, pointed out that Baranoa is a municipality with a cultural wealth of international level and deserves this cultural center thanks to the coordinated work between the Government of Atlántico and the Mayor’s Office of Baranoa.

“We have already begun the management of the purchase of some properties to consolidate this project for the cultural managers and makers of our municipality that will not only improve their quality of life but also possess and project culture and tourism from Baranoa to the world,” Palma indicated.

Different sectors, artist groups, dance, music, theater, and plastic arts groups, were pleased because the departmental and municipal administration listened to their needs and required resource management, transformation of their cultural spaces that seek the integration of culture. as a common good, a heritage that must be protected, promoted, decentralized and projected to the Atlantic.

“We are happy, very soon we will make our dream of having a cultural center come true to continue showing the culture and folklore of the new generations of the Atlantic to the world,” said Gisset Polo Iglesias, dancer at the Ritmos School of the municipality of Baranoa.
