On the national birthday, the 18th edition of the Corrientes-Empedrado regatta is run

This Saturday the 18th edition of the traditional Corrientes – Empedrado Regattas will be held.
The starting point will be at 9, in front of the Yacht Club Corrientes.

The sailboats that will sail the waters of the Paraná will have around 5 hours of navigation to complete the 60 kilometer journey. Around twenty boats from Corrientes and Resistencia, with their respective crews.

After 2:00 p.m., the arrival to the “Pearl of Paraná” ravines is scheduled, an occasion in which there will be a reception and presentation of prizes.

The classic nautical competition is organized by the Yacht Club Corrientes, with the support of the Chaco Yacht Club and has the support of sponsors from the region as well as the Municipality of Empedrado and the Ministry of Tourism of the Province, which promote this type of social and sports activities, mixing tourism and nature.

The Regatta has the particularity that it is the only one that runs down the Paraná river, sailing along its route in front of the Empedrado ravines, which provide a unique setting for sailing.
The general public will be able to witness the start from Punta San Sebastián where they will have a perfect panorama of the departure of the boats and enjoy a morning in contact with nature and the river.

It should be noted that the Ramón “Tolé” Arbués Cup, the Challenger trophy that is put into play, is in tribute to a sailor who was one of the pioneers of navigation, a native of Barranqueras. He was a precursor of sailing, the first to have a sailboat and navigate the rivers in the area. He was the creator of the first school in Chaco and one of the pioneer regattas in the region, the Asunción-Antequeras, had “Tolé” in the organization together with the Yapú Guazú Club.
