Forecasters predicted that this Saturday would be the coldest day of the year, and much of the province is under a yellow alert due to extreme temperatures. In the capital of Corrientes the minimum temperatures could reach 6°C and in some locations 5°C, so a cool day is expected.

On National Day, the people of Corrientes will experience a very cold day so they should leave their homes warm. For this Saturday, minimum temperatures could reach 6°C and maximum temperatures of 15°C, with partly cloudy skies. These conditions could be replicated on Sunday.

A yellow alert for extreme temperatures is in effect for the cities of Mercedes, Santo Tomé, Paso de los Libres, Curuzú Cuatiá, Alvear, Goya and Concepción, as announced by the National Meteorological Service (SMN) in the last few hours.

Temperatures will be between 5°C and a maximum of 14°C in these locations and these conditions could continue for the next few days.

The yellow alert level implies a mild to moderate effect on health, they can be dangerous, especially for risk groups, such as boys and girls, people over 65 years of age, with chronic diseases.
