The Cuban regime appointed a member of the Castro family as Cuba’s new Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment.

The middle America TeVe revealed that Oscar Pérez-Oliva Fragawho since Thursday has served as head of the aforementioned portfolio in replacement of Ricardo CabrisasHe is the son of the biologist Mirsa Fraga Castro and grandson of Angelita Castrowho died in 2013 at age 88 and was the older sister of Fidel and Raúl Castro Ruz.

Likewise, he is the nephew of José Antonio Fraga Castro, former president of Labiofam until 2014.

According to the news channel, Pérez-Oliva Fraga was Business Director of the Mariel Special Zone under the tutelage of the late Major General Luis Alberto Rodríguez López-Calleja, known as GAESA czar and former son-in-law of Raúl Castro.

He then served as first vice minister of MINCEX, until on Thursday he was promoted to replace Cabrisas, who only lasted three months in office but remains vice minister of the island.

The day before, in a surprise movethe regime announced that it was releasing Cabrisas from his responsibilities as head of the sector, a position he had held in February.

Cabrisas will continue in his position as deputy prime minister; and Pérez-Oliva Fraga, who served as first vice minister, was appointed as his successor in MINCEX.

The 53-year-old electronic engineer, who has been rising in positions related to foreign investment, was presented by the regime as an expert in management for more than 15 years in foreign trade activity.

The appointment of Carlos Luis Jorge Méndez as first vice minister of MINCEX was also approved.
