As is well known, noise pollution affects health, causing stress and communication problems. For this reason, It is important to control noise through moderate speakers, which improves quality of life and creates a healthier business environment for both sellers and buyers.

Motivated by this, The Mayor’s Office and the Metropolitan Police of Ibagué visited several stores and formal commerce establishments, located in the Third raceone of the busiest and most important points in local commerce, in order to verify the intensity and sound limits of the space.

It is important to recognize that the crossing of sounds between megaphones, speakers, among others, causes the environment to become uncomfortable and deafening. During the inspection they found the following:

“We have found that many commercial establishments exceed the permitted levels that regulate environmental noise. “Preventive measures have been applied to street vendors to regulate and eliminate sources that generate noise pollution.”said Mateo Flórez, sound engineer for the Mayor’s Office.

In this first phase, the aim is to raise awareness about the different sources of sound that are generated in commercial establishments and that, when unified, produce serious noise pollution in the sector.

“We are carrying out preventive activities in establishments open to the public that use elements that generate sound such as baffles and booths. These elements, at high volumes, interrupt the tranquility of the community, and that is why we are calling attention. If you do not comply with the standard, sanctioning measures will be imposed.“said Luis Flórez, major of the Ibagué Metropolitan Police.
