The Chamber of Commerce of Córdoba announced the results of the Commercial Observatory corresponding to the May 2024 salesbased on an exclusive survey of the entity in commercial corridors of the city and shopping malls.

The report highlights that 78% of merchants did not meet their sales expectations.

The year-on-year variation in May recorded a 14% drop in unit sales and a 9% drop in profitability, compared to the same month of the previous year.

Meanwhile, the month-on-month variation registered a 4% decline in unit sales and a 5% decline in profitability, compared to April.

This survey showed a slowdown in the decline in year-on-year sales and profitability, as well as when compared to the previous month.

In that sense, the entity highlighted that the average ticket in May was $71,060.

It should be noted that no item managed to increase its sales level when compared to May 2023. However, the decrease was greater in furniture, electronics-computer science, and clothing-footwear.

Finally, regarding payment methods, the credit card along with electronic means occupy first place, followed by cash and the debit card as the last option.
