This Sunday the AAT Challenger Santander Santa Fe 2024 edition officially began, the most important professional tennis tournament in the province that is held at the Santa Fe Lawn Tennis Club.

On this opening day, the matches corresponding to the first round of the classification were played, in which five Argentines managed to advance to the round: Santiago de la Fuente, Franco Ribero, Leonardo Aboian, Tomás Farjat and Bautista Vilicich.

In the first round, Tomás Farjat won the Argentine duel against Valentín Basel by a double 6-2. American Dali Blanch defeated Russian Alexev Nesterov 6-1, 6-4. While Santiago de la Fuente, who traveled this Saturday without having a guaranteed place in the draw, finally entered the qualy and won again in Challenger after a year: he beat the Uruguayan Ignacio Carou 2-6, 6-2 and 6-0.

Then, the Brazilian Rafael Tosetto won the duel against the Colombian Juan Sebastian Osorio 7-6 and 7-6. The Argentine Franco Ribero beat his compatriot Manuel Mouilleron Salvo 7-6 and 6-1. In another duel between national representatives, Leonardo Aboian ended up cramped after beating Thiago Cigarran 6-1 6-7 and 7-5 after three hours and 11 minutes of play.

The one who could not advance is Lautaro Corthey from Santa Fe who fell to Bautista Vilicich 6-2 and 7-5. The American Alexander Stater defeated the Argentine Rocco Valente 7-5 and 6-3. Meanwhile, the Brazilian Igor Gimenez lost to the Russian Alexandr Lobanov 3-6, 6-0 and 6-1.

While the match between Ecuadorian Emilio Gómez emerged victorious against Marcos Chan by a double 6-1. Then the American Trey Hilderbrand beat the Argentine Gonzalo Ariel Karakachian 6-2, 3-6 and 6-1. The Colombian Juan Sebastian Gomez advanced after beating the Argentine Felipe De Dios 6-2, 2-6 and 6-2.

The AAT Challenger Santander Santa Fe edition awards 50 ATP points to the champion and distributes US$50,000 in prizes. This is the fourth tournament of this type organized by the Argentine Tennis Association so far this year, after two events in Buenos Aires and the remaining one in Tucumán.
