The Azcuba Business Group promotes the execution, through foreign investment, of 16 projects aimed at the modernization of sugar mills, Lourdes Castellanos Jiménez, director of International Relations, Business, Foreign Investment and Institutional Communication of the organization, explained to Granma.
He explained that, among these projects, are the use of efficient technologies in cultivation, irrigation and drainage, harvesting, and transportation to increase yields, as well as “rehabilitating the different areas of the raw sugar factory, guaranteeing greater efficiency.” industrial and operational reliability to increase grain production and the generation of electrical energy, reducing production costs.
He added that the construction of a new sugar mill is planned, which will have a refinery, a generation block of one hundred megawatts, and a distillery of 500 HLD (2% glutaraldehyde) of alcohol.
The group is focused on the diversified manufacturing of organic products at the Carlos Baliño plant, as well as the production of sorbitol and fructoligosaccharide (FOS, sugar substitutes or sweeteners) and on the modernization and increase of the scope of the boiler factory.
