“it doesn’t seem like we are in a ceasefire”: governor of meta

In a meeting between the negotiators of the Government and the dissidents of the Central General Staff with the local and departmental rulers in the municipality of Puerto Concordia, Meta, the governor of the department, Rafaela Cortes, reminded the members of the guerrilla group how they are affecting their actions to the civilian population.

“Today here with you, I am not only the Governor of Meta, I am the mother of the 7 children that we have recruited so far this year and those who were taken years ago and never returned; I am also one of the 200 merchants who have bravely reported the extortion of which they are victims this year and many more who did not report; I am also that peasant who threatens and exploits with the sole objective of deforesting the jungle and accumulating more land,” said the Governor.

Is this the transformation of the territories? He asked the members of the dissidents and assured that the governors are very concerned about what is happening in terms of security in their territories.

The regional peace table installed in Puerto Concordia is part of the territorial transformations agreed upon by the Government and the dissidents at the negotiation table.
