The “Healing the Children” campaign is an activity that has been carried out for 29 years. Every year the community has been called to care for children who have problems with cleft lip, palate, and cleft palate. So far, more than 4,700 families have benefited from this social work that has been carried out. and for this occasion, about 100 children will undergo surgeries.
How many foreign and Colombian doctors participate in the campaign?
The staff that comes from abroad includes more than 50 people, including doctors, maxillofacial orthopedists, plastic surgeons, a team of nutritionists, therapists, nurses and the entire framework to provide a comprehensive service for the community.
Juan Diego Fierro Oliveros, manager of the Hernando Moncaleano Perdomo University Hospital, confirmed that “the campaign is aimed at the population of Huila, there is also continuity in some cases of children, the idea is to be able to finish their treatments between each one of the days. Most of these children require several surgical interventions to achieve the desired final effect.
The surgeries to which the minors are subjected are physical malformations of the lip and palate, which in this version will benefit nearly 100 children. Leaving the Neiva hospital center as one of the most important in southern Colombia.
