The heavy transportation sector in Santa Cruz decided raise the vigil which he maintained at the Guillermo Eder Bell refinery, known as Palmasola, after several hours of protest.

The measure, which had begun this Monday morning, had as its objective demand a solution to the shortage of dollars and the irregular distribution of fuel. In addition, it was part of the 48-hour mobilized strike carried out by transporters nationwide.

“We have decided to lift this vigil”said Juan Yujra, leader of heavy transport. “We have been blocked in San Julián, in El Chapare and it was not sustainable to continue blocking our people. So now the instruction is to lift the measure,” he said.

Yujra also noted that the sector will hold meetings at the departmental and national level to evaluate the situation and define the next steps

“We haven’t achieved anything so far, but we will continue to demonstrate until they listen to our demands,” Yujra said.

Despite the decision of the transporters in Santa Cruz, the measures are maintained in other departments. According to the Bolivian Highway Administrator (ABC) There are blocking points in Cochabamba, Oruro, Potosí and Tarija.

The 48-hour national strike of heavy transportation was called by the Bolivian Chamber of Heavy Transportation in view of the country’s economic situation unleashed by the shortage of dollars, lack of fuel, in addition to complaining about the abuses of Customs and Police personnel in their controls.
