In accordance with the provisions of the Institutional Strategic Development Plan 2023-2029, in the sense of addressing the continuous expansion of the national and international continuous training network, our university signed an important agreement with the prestigious King’s College London (KCL ).

Through this alliance sealed at the PUCV Santiago premises by rector Nelson Vásquez and Vinicius Mariano de Carvalho, professor of Brazilian and Latin American Studies at KCL, both educational institutions committed to advancing research in the country’s strategic security, encompassing matters related to cybersecurity, intelligence and national security.

The rector of the PUCV pointed out that “by signing this agreement, we are meeting the challenge of generating long-term strategic alliances with relevant institutions worldwide. King’s College London is one of the great British universities, of great prestige, tradition and with many years of training people. Therefore, it is a privilege to establish this alliance in order to strengthen research, links with the environment and training of people.”

For his part, Vinicius Mariano de Carvalho stated that “collaborating with the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso gives us a very good opportunity to learn what they are doing, since one of the concerns of our institution is not to limit itself only to the English reality. To achieve this, it is important to have cooperation around the world, because we believe that the research and teaching capacity that we develop can contribute, at the same time, to learning what other universities in the world are doing.”

This agreement will begin to materialize through a diploma in strategic intelligence aimed at institutions of the Armed Forces, central, regional and local governments, and companies, with the purpose of thinking about Chile and the dangers it faces, and guiding the generation of public policies according to national challenges.

Likewise, undergraduate students and the 20 doctoral students of the PUCV will be able to do internships at KCL.
