The exhibition “Las Comparsas, the most popular festival: Los Incas” is extended – News

The Municipality of Salta, through the Active Culture Agency and the City Museum, invites the community to visit the exhibition “Las Comparsas, the most popular festival: ‘Los Incas’: history, design and color”, which will be enabled until June 19.

The exhibition shows one of the most important cultural and social expressions of Salta: The Corsicans. On this occasion it happens from the Los Incas troupe, one of the longest-lived, awarded and recognized.

It takes place in the three rooms of the museum, at 97 La Florida Street, and each one covers a different thematic axis that allows you to learn more about the history, creative development and the result of such an arduous and fascinating task.

In the first room, “History” is addressed with a short tour based on journalistic and archival photographic material courtesy of the newspaper archive and the photographic archive of the Historical Archive and Library of Salta “Dr. Joaquín Castellanos”. It provides an account of how the Corsicans lived from the 1930s onwards, accompanied by the first costumes from the 1980s of the Los Incas troupe.

In the second room, the different aspects and processes carried out to create the costumes each year are displayed, with the aim that visitors can delve into this complex work that is rarely known.

Most people who attend parades often do not have the opportunity to know how the costumes and hats are made. In this room, the entire process is revealed, from the creation of the theme, the sketches of the figurines, a step by step of how a major cap is created, through miniatures to scale and audiovisual records of the different stages. of construction thereof.

Finally, in the third room, costumes of the different members of the troupe are displayed along with photographs taken by Matías Chuchuy.

Salteños and tourists can tour the exhibition until June 19, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with free entry.
