The 2024 National Championship is on the verge of lowering the curtain on its first round, with Universidad de Chile leading the standings after its agonizing victory against Everton in Viña del Mar.
Much of matchday 15 was played last weekend, where the aforementioned blue victory, the surprising defeat of Colo Colo against Deportes Copiapó in the Monumental and the victory of Coquimbo Unidos over UC in a ‘six-point’ clash stood out.
The first round of the domestic competition will only end on June 10, as three pending matches must be played in the coming days.
One of those commitments will define the ‘Winter Champion’ of the Championship, specifically the match between Coquimbo Unidos and Palestino to be played on Thursday, June 6 at the ‘Francisco Sánchez Rumoroso’ Stadium (8:00 p.m.).
If the ‘pirate’ team wins, it will reach 33 points and become the new exclusive leader of the tournament, surpassing the blues by one unit. The draw or defeat of the Aurinegra will leave Gustavo Álvarez’s team as the best in the first round.
The other pending clashes are Unión Española vs Unión La Calera and Ñublense vs Huachipato. Hispanics and cement workers will clash on Friday, June 7 at the Santa Laura Stadium (7:00 p.m.).
Meanwhile, the ‘Red Devils’ of Chillán and the Acereros will clash on Monday, June 10 at the ‘Nelson Oyarzún’ Stadium (7:00 p.m.).
