The latest harness and new technologies

On Friday, May 31, the so-called “route of the herds”, Provincial Route 43, witnessed the last return from wintering of a rancher and his impressive troop. In the perfect and harmonious geography of the La Primavera area and in the midst of the cold climate typical of the anticipated winter, a young man from Huinganco managed to capture some incredible aerial images with new technological devices that allow us to dimension the ambivalence of the same activity from another perspective: beauty and the sacrifice.

Juan Gabriel Sepúlveda, owner of the audiovisual venture Septron, managed to capture with a drone the last herd coming down from the heights of northern Neuquén. “I honestly have no idea who owned the pine tree that day. I estimate that it must have been from some nearby wintering, because they did not have logistical support. “I took those images around spring between Chos Malal and Huinganco,” said the young man in contact with LMNeuquén. Regarding the recording of the video, he said: “I always liked photography and whenever I can I go out with the equipment to record or take photos. More than anything to try to show the culture and landscapes of northern Neuquén, which are often not as widespread as other sectors of the province.”

Everything always linked to the harnesses

The story of Juan Gabriel, like that of all the inhabitants of northern Neuquén in one way or another, is always linked to the countryside and the herds. “My parents José Lisandro Sepúlveda and Alicia Troncoso always had animals. Nothing very big, just for family consumption. So I am lucky to know closely the life of the producer and the culture of the area,” he said. In this sense, he was also proud to visit the same summer and winter places that his grandparents Lisandro Sepúlveda and Orfelina Cerda visited and worked in.

To highlight that story and the story of so many ranchers from northern Neuquén, Juan started his venture “Septron” about 10 years ago and since then his postcards and videos of the herding and all the work involved in the operation are well known.
