The show will feature the participation of the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba and soloists from the National Lyric Theater, under the baton of Mexican director Guillermo Villarreal Rodríguez.

According to a press release from the diplomatic mission of that country, it will be a morning full of emotions where the traditional sounds of Mexico will be intertwined with Cuban talent and passion in a unique tribute to one of the greatest Mexican composers, very beloved in the Antillean nation.

The sound tour includes emblematic pieces from his songbook, among them “A strange world”, “Si nos deja” and “El rey”, whose arrangements – provided by the National Symphony Orchestra of Mexico of the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL) )—will be presented outside their country for the first time.

The other cultural initiative is titled “Terror MX: cycle of Mexican horror films”, which will have the support of the House of the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry and the Mexican Institute of Cinematography.

The screenings will take place from June 27 to July 4 at the Casa del Festival de Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano and at the Multicine Infanta, both in this capital.

To present this retrospective of the seventh art, the Mexican filmmaker and critic Nicolás Ruíz Berruecos will travel to Cuba, who was in charge of curating the exhibition, in which “Alucarda” (1978) by Juan López Moctezuma stands out, considered a work master of gothic horror.

The public will also be able to see “Poison for the Fairies” (1983), by Carlos Enrique Taboada; “Huesera” (2022), by Michelle Garza; and “Las tinieblas” (2016), by Daniel Castro.

Each performance will be preceded by a short film, among them will be “Unheimlich” (2021), “Trasiego” (2023) and “La noria” (2018), which show the recent evolution of the genre in Mexico.
