The Regional Council approved more than 271 million pesos for the project carried out by Sename Aysén.

Unanimously, the Regional Government of Aysén approved the funds that the regional Sename applied for to acquire an X-ray body scanner equipment and an X-ray package inspection equipment, which will be used in the entry control of the Provisional Internment Center, Closed Regime and Semi-Closed Center (CIP-CRC and CSC) of Coyhaique.

The investment, which reached $271,111,000, will be executed in 2024, so the new technology will be installed during this year. These are mobile machines, which will avoid having to make changes to the center’s infrastructure.

The director of the CIP-CRC and CSC, Pabla Erices, highlighted that “having technological support for the review is an expected and great advance that will enhance internal security procedures, in such a way as to favor an adequate context for the development of intervention processes, safer for young people and officials and designed from a perspective of guaranteeing rights. We thank the Regional Government of Aysén for approving this initiative and our Regional Directorate for the management and work carried out.”

For her part, the director of Sename Aysén, Gabriela Bahamonde, commented that “this is a tremendous advance in strengthening our internal security team and a dream to have this type of technology, which, in addition, will directly contribute to the prevention of events that could negatively influence the young people’s process. I thank each official who worked hard in the preparation of the project, the support of the Seremi of Justice, the regional governor and the Regional Council, which allowed us the success of this initiative.”

This new technology, which will be managed by the Gendarmerie, will contribute to improving the security of the place and will benefit the intervention carried out with the young people in the facility, since it will allow the investigation not only of metals, as was done until now, but also the entry of drugs. .
