During the weekend, marked by the celebration of Corpus Christi, the Huila Police Department reported the capture of 14 people in its jurisdiction of 33 municipalities.
The arrests are related to various crimes, including drug trafficking, theft, personal injuryillegal carrying of firearms, use of a false document, domestic violence, reception and violation of another’s room.
In addition to the arrests, the surveillance units of the police stations in the department recovered three stolen motorcycles. With thesethe total number of motorcycles recovered so far in 2024 amounts to 215.
In relation to arms security, the police removed two firearms from the streets, adding a total of 65 weapons seized since January. Colonel Carlos Eduardo Téllez Betancourt highlighted that each weapon seized potentially represents saving a life.

The fight against drug trafficking also showed results: during the weekend 109 grams of marijuana. So far this year, 6.8 tons of marijuana have been seized in Huila, which represents an increase of 2 tons compared to the previous year.
However, it was not all good news. The Huila Police regretted the death of a person in the municipality of Campoalegre, a fact that is being investigated by judicial police units. Additionally, in Pitalito, a house was incinerated, apparently due to a Molotov cocktail thrown by an individual. The fire was extinguished by firefighters in the early morning, and the authorities are investigating the motives for this act of vandalism.
