Carabineros of the Tarapacá Zone carried out an assessment of the services carried out during the fifth month of the year, in which 1,016 people were detained and 16,617 preventive controls were carried out throughout the region.
The main arrests corresponded to arrest warrants pending by Courts of Justice (225), injuries (88), robberies (73), drug law violations (72) and domestic violence (65).
Regarding organized crime, during May 512 kilos of drugs were seized, 10 criminal gangs operating in the region were dismantled and 55 vehicles ordered for theft were recovered.
In the preventive area, during this period, 16,617 inspections were carried out, corresponding to 12,500 vehicle controls (75%), 3,888 controls on people (23%), 141 on commercial entities (1%) and 88 on alcohol establishments (1%).
In addition, 3,748 traffic violations were issued.
General Juan González Albornoz, Zone Chief of Carabineros Tarapacá, indicated that “we are exhibiting the work of the Carabineros for the month of May, where Carabineros has been working on inspections, controls and also in the work of controlling weapons, seizing 84 “weapons among edged weapons, blank weapons.”
The zonal chief also highlighted the work of the Centauro Section, which with more than 10 interventions has been focusing services in accordance with the regional reality, not only that they provide us with the statistics, but also the valuable, important and confidential information that they provide us. the neighbors deliver. Meanwhile, the Regional Presidential Delegate of Tarapacá, Daniel Quinteros, pointed out that “we want to highlight the professional and dedicated work of the Carabineros of Chile, which during the month of May has managed to seize 84 weapons, 18 of them were firearms. The weapons, without a doubt, that put the country’s security in check, frighten our citizens and are an important part of the objectives that we have outlined in the Streets Without Violence Plan. This work done here allows us to get weapons out of circulation, reduce the firepower of criminal organizations and be able to provide that security that the residents of Tarapacá so long for.”
Weapons seized
During the month of May, Carabineros recovered 84 weapons, of which 18 correspond to firearms, 15 to blank weapons and 51 to bladed weapons.
Regarding the firearms, 7 were recovered in police procedures and 11 through recovery work carried out by the Weapons Control Authority.
This work corresponds to preventive and inspection work carried out by Carabineros to be able to remove from circulation those weapons that are used to commit crimes.
Centaur Section
Of the total work carried out in the Tarapacá area during the month of May, Carabineros from the Centauro Section arrested 90 people for different crimes during their preventive services carried out in the region, seizing blank weapons, knives, drugs and packets of cigarettes.
