Two leaders in their respective industries formalized a strategic agreement in Chile. This is the alliance between Zurich and DIRECTV, which seeks to expand the availability of insurance in our country, so that thousands of people can access a complete protection solution.

The agreement, which will extend for 10 years, will allow Zurich, with 170 years of history and more than 1,200,000 policyholders in Chile, to offer insurance to DIRECTV customers, who already enjoy fiber broadband internet services. optics and television through DIRECTV and DGO, the live TV and streaming platform.

Sebastián Dabini, CEO of Zurich Chile, highlighted the importance of this alliance: “Thousands of people will be able to access a complete protection solution through a service they have already contracted. We aspire to be a contribution to encourage and expand access to insurance in Chile, where we have been accompanying people for more than 170 years.”

Initially, the agreement will include unemployment and home insurance, with plans to expand the product offering based on market trends. Mariano Montaldo, general manager of DIRECTV Chile, highlighted the relevance of providing solutions adapted to customer needs: “Taking care of the user and innovating in their experience while guaranteeing the highest quality standards is one of the main pillars of our company.”

The intermediation of this alliance will be carried out by WTW Corredores de Seguros, a firm specialized in analytical solutions and risk management with an outstanding track record in the industry. In this first stage, DIRECTV postpaid customers will be able to access two types of Zurich coverage:

  1. Protected Home: This insurance covers fires, theft, civil liability and assistance such as locksmithing, electricity, glassware and plumbing. It also includes an exclusive DIRECTV technical service with five visits per year.
  2. Protected Ballot: Covers the payment of the DIRECTV ticket in case of involuntary loss of employment for dependent workers, guaranteeing the continuity of the service.

This alliance is part of the regional expansion of the agreement between Zurich Insurance Group and Vrio Corp., parent company of DIRECTV Latin America, SKY Brasil and DGO, belonging to the Werthein Group. Roy Humphreys, Regional Director of Insurance and Health at Grupo Werthein, noted that “the success of the first alliance in Brazil allowed expansion to Colombia, Ecuador and now Chile, with future plans for Uruguay and Peru.”

The insurance market in Chile has shown double-digit growth over the last two years, closing 2023 with an increase of 12%.
