During the day, the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Luis Medina Ruiz, witnessed the presentation of the head of the Hemato-oncology Department of the Néstor Kirchner Hospital, Dr. Flavia Figueroa.
Medina Ruiz commented that they were informed about the services provided in the Department, highlighting especially bone marrow transplants, since its creation and authorization there have been eight in total: “We highlight teamwork, since it responds to the population. We have high expectations, since it is the first service to perform bone marrow transplants in the public service. The team has great professionalism and responsiveness.”
For his part, Figueroa stated that last year they inaugurated the Transplant Unit and that they began within a Federal Transplant program. They recently fulfilled the requirements of the Scientific-Technical Directorate of Incuicai to advance in a second stage. “We have a multidisciplinary team that in the last three years carried out all types of training, not only theoretical, but also in the field to sub-specialize in bone marrow transplantation,” he explained, and stressed that all this was thanks to the support from the Ministry of Health.
