“The President forgot us as a region.” With those words, deputy Miguel Ángel Calisto referred to the Public Account given by President Gabriel Boric last Saturday in the National Congress, criticizing the fact that there was no announcement related to the Aysén region.

Valparaíso.- According to the legislator, “it is regrettable that the President of the Republic has lost a historic opportunity to bring together criteria and forces from all political sectors to advance the issues that the country and the communities require. We hear announcements that are not what the communities were hearing. For example, in the case of our region there is no mention of the Carretera Austral or regional connectivity.”
“Zero mentions of investment in health and new hospitals. Many of the projects that are already very advanced, such as the Chile Chico hospital, come from the previous government. Is this government not going to advance in the design of the new regional hospital for Coyhaique, for example? This is fundamental and it is not for tomorrow, it is long-term, but we must move forward now,” he noted.
Calisto added that “I regret that there have been no important announcements. Regarding roads, the paving between Balmaceda and Puerto Chacabuco is in terrible condition. An investment was very necessary there to improve this road, which is the productive route and where the largest number of people in our region travel.”
Finally, deputy Miguel Ángel Calisto assured that he reiterated, “he could perfectly have increased pensions for our seniors, increased the heating bonus or announced measures to combat pollution. I really feel that the President forgot us as a region.”
