The fourth date of the qualifying circuit for the World Skate Games 2024 is being held in the heart of the port community.

Various tests in the categories; Senior, Under 18 – 14 – 10 – 7 and Open have had to draw lots for the participants during the three days that the circuit lasts, and which will take them to play the final representing Chile in the month of September in Italy.

Nadia Fernández, coach and sports manager of the Ruedas Veloces Coquimbo club and part of the organization, highlighted the importance of being able to develop this sporting event, “here there was no inline skating in Coquimbo, it is a work in scale, we started with friendly championships and reaching this point that it is a national championship, which is official for the national team, because we want to give sporting life to Coquimbo, we want “Be a city that can be skated, that is skateable.” When asked what she thought of the space set up like O’Higgins Park and the various municipal establishments open to the community for sports, she said, “this is an ideal space because we can do different disciplines, not just one and the same. It can also adapt to each one of them, it is great that this space is available and that we can maintain it over time and be able to attract more activities and more children who start in this sport”mentioned Fernández.

More than 10 skating clubs and schools from Valdivia, Temuco, Concepción, Talca, Ñuble, Santiago, Valparaíso, Viña del Mar, Coquimbo, La Serena, Vallenar, Copiapó and Antofagasta are competing to participate in this qualifying circuit.

Danilo Cordero from the Roller Conce club commented that he performs freeskate which motivated him to participate in these competitions, “I like to walk down the street, go out skating and face the obstacles that the street asks of me and this discipline is like taking that movement through the streets to an extreme… it is taking my skills one step further and it’s great here in Coquimbo, it’s delicious the day and the track”, said the penquista who is competing for a place in the senior men’s category.

During this day, the three categories took time on the track of each of the competitors, ending this Sunday with the competition and awards in the crescent of O’Higgins Park. The sporting event will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the awards ceremony will take place at 6:00 p.m. and is completely free.
