In a brief ceremony without speeches, President Javier Milei swore in Guillermo Francos as Chief of Staff tonight. The event took place in the White Room of the Casa Rosada and was attended by Vice President Victoria Villarruel and the ministers.
Francos took over in place of Nicolás Posse, the first Chief of Staff that the head of state had as soon as he took office on December 10. With his departure, the national government sought to recover the political initiative and accelerate the management, which had been bogged down and subject to tensions between several of the members of the circle closest to the leader of La Libertad Avanza.
Francos arrives at the Chief of Staff after a renowned stint at the Ministry of the Interior, from where he helmed the negotiations with deputies, senators and governors, to advance the debate on the Bases Law and the fiscal package, two of the initiatives in which Milei places strong hopes that they will serve as initial conditions to cement the recovery of the Argentine economy.
After taking the oath and taking the official photos, the president approached the members of the Cabinet who had been present in the White Room and greeted those present one by one, but had an extensive hug with Sandra Pettovello, the Minister of Human Capital who is facing a difficult time due to complaints about delays in the delivery of food to vulnerable sectors that led to several layoffs.
