The Colombian Olympic Committee (COC) announced this Monday that after the conclusion of the Olympic qualification process for MTB cycling and the International Cycling Union (UCI), Colombia will have a place in the Paris 2024 competitions in the Cross Country modality (men’s ).

This assignment is a new numerical quota for the Colombian Cycling Federation, which is why it must confirm the nominal selection of the athlete who will represent the country in this year’s Olympic Games, which will take place between Friday, July 26 and Sunday, August 11.

The tricolor delegation completed 21 nominal and 45 numerical classifications, for a total of 66 places, distributed among 15 federations. It is expected that in the coming weeks the number will exceed 70 qualifiers, as there are still disciplines that have not closed their qualifying events.

Before this quota was confirmed for the country, the last ticket for Colombia had also come from cycling, but from track, after the UCI announced a new numerical Olympic quota in the speed modality – men’s keirin.

On the track, Colombian cycling will see action with Martha Bayona from Santander (keirin – speed), Kevin Quintero from Valle del Cauca (keirin – speed) and the Colombians selected in the numerical quotas for men’s omnium and keirin – women’s speed.

In this way, national cycling already has 9 numerical quotas for this Olympic event in its different modalities of track cycling, road cycling and MTB cycling. This is how Colombian cycling has been adding to the Olympic dream of the entire country for what will be the national representation in Paris 2024.
