The authorities are investigating the motives for this violent event.
The 16-year-old street dweller murdered in the municipality of El Tambo, Cauca, was identified as Jesús Obando Astaíza.
The case was confirmed by the authorities when they stated that the victim remained at the San José de Popayán University Hospital, where he was taken after being shot in the head.
The report indicates that the attack occurred around 9:00 p.m. last Wednesday, May 29, when the victim remained in the gallery sector of the El Paraíso neighborhood of the municipality of El Tambo.
“The little information we have about the case establishes that the young man was attacked with a firearm by a subject in this part of the municipality, then the few people who were at the scene alerted the Police of what happened,” the authorities added.
Afterwards, and with the support of citizens, the police proceeded to transfer the injured young man to the local hospital. The doctors, after the first evaluations, ordered to refer him to a more complex medical center in Popayán.
“The victim underwent an operation, then entered an Intensive Care Unit where he remained for around two days and then died,” said officials from the Sijín Police Department, which is now investigating the case.
