In a Plenary Session held virtually and in person, the General Secretaries of the National Federation of University Teachers (CONADU) unanimously decided to ratify the 48-hour National University Strike, with a total cessation of activities that will begin today, Tuesday the 4th, and will last until tomorrow, demanding better salaries.

Last week the unions and officials of the Ministry of Human Capital met within the framework of joint negotiations. The meeting failed, since the Government presented the same salary offer that the unions had already rejected as insufficient.

The Secretary General of CONADU, Carlos De Feo, expressed his indignation at the lack of seriousness and irresponsibility of Government officials in a negotiation so crucial for the proper functioning of national universities, such as the salary of teaching workers. .

Non-teaching

Within the framework of the XLII Ordinary National Congress of the Federation of Associations of Non-Teaching Workers of National Universities (FATUN), a 48-hour strike was announced for June 11 and 12.

This measure will take place in the event that the response from the representatives of the National Government, expected on June 6, is negative regarding the requirements of the non-teaching union. The document also contemplates the possibility of extending the strike to 72 hours if satisfactory responses are not obtained, which could put the start of the second quarter after the winter break at risk.
