The UCR won the fight against Kirchnerism and postponed the debate over educational funds

The UCR won the fight against Kirchnerism at the beginning of legislative Super Tuesday. When opening the 11 o’clock session in the Chamber of Deputies, he achieved a quorum to debate projects on retirement mobility and, at the same time, blocked the request to add the educational topics of the 14 o’clock session to the agenda and voted that these topics be addressed in a special session on July 3.

The Unión por la Patria bloc had requested a special session for this Tuesday afternoon to debate the opinions on the restitution of the Teaching Incentive Fund (FONID) and budget for national universities, but given the prospect of delaying the previous debate on retirements tried, without success, to incorporate these issues.

The block led by Germán Martínez from Santa Fe contributed to the quorum of the session scheduled for 11 a.m., despite the fact that the special session itself with a focus on the educational agenda was scheduled for 2 p.m.

However, Unión por la Patria’s request to extend the agenda gathered 122 votes in favor and 110 against, which was rejected as it did not gather the support of three-quarters of the votes of the body.

The Peronist bench requested to incorporate educational issues with the argument that “teachers cannot wait” and that the responsibility that the State has over education must be “ratified,” according to what was expressed by Blanca Osuna from Entre Ríos.

Also the president of the UxP bloc, Gerardo Martínez, argued that “it seems important to us that to the issue of retirements we add the issue of the Incentive Fund and Universities since it is a project that has an opinion and has a deep consensus that it needs to be implemented.” see reflected in the enclosure.”

Subsequently, the UxP deputy Pablo Carro also made his request to add the treatment of the financing of the National Universities, which was also rejected since he received 120 against 110 votes and 2 abstentions, which did not obtain the necessary majority to incorporate it into the agenda. of the special session.

From the radical bloc, led by Rodrigo de Loredo from Cordoba, the non-accompaniment of UxP’s request was justified by pointing out that another special session is planned to discuss these issues on July 3.

“There is a mechanism that we have established for the debate of the different projects in the commissions and there is also a request for a special session for July,” said deputy Danya Tavela. And she warned that UxP “the only thing they want is to do is take political advantage to appear on the networks and on TV making them defend the teachers when they did nothing for four years.”

The request for a session on July 3 was signed by the radical deputies Rodrigo de Loredo, Marcela Antola, Karina Banfi, Atilio Benedetti, Soledad Carrizo, Mariela Coletta, Melina Giorgi, Lisandro Nieri, Fabio Quetglas, Roberto Sánchez, Danya Tavela and Pamela Verasay .

Regarding the university budget, the UCR project differs from that of Unión por la Patria in that the increase is indexed to inflation and adds to a salary increase.

Regarding FONID, the UCR included in the project the declaration of education as an essential service, which provoked reproach from the rest of the opposition for understanding that the two issues are not directly related.
