This community, which apparently has no control, continues to commit crimes in the sight and knowledge of the authorities, from collective robberies to extortion organized by the community of this district in the department of Magdalena.

Misgovernance and lack of authority with the communities surrounding the Caribbean Trunk, especially in the road corridor between the municipality of Ciénaga and the city of Barranquilla, continues to be a security problem that is increasingly gaining strength, reaching the point of being exposed to being robbed or extorted by the same community that takes the road.

It was recently learned that illegal checkpoints were again presented by the community of Tasajera in the jurisdiction of Puebloviejo, Magdalena. There, apparently, men with sticks in hand demanded money from drivers to let them pass, as part of the extortion for traveling through this difficult road corridor in the department.

This community, which apparently has no control, continues to commit crimes in the sight and knowledge of the authorities, from collective robberies to extortion organized by hooded men. For drivers, it turns out to be unpredictable and highly dangerous to reach the capital of the Atlantic through Ciénaga, Puebloviejo, Tasajera and Palermo on the Magdalena.

The presence of the authorities in this sector is not synonymous with safety for drivers, since sometimes vehicles are attacked when an accident occurs, as happened last Thursday, where a van had an accident and a crowd of criminals from the town of Tasajera destroyed the merchandise he was carrying.

Not a week has passed and once again this community is the center of the news, this time due to the illegal extortionate checkpoints to allow drivers to travel through the Caribbean Trunk, apparently taking advantage of the return plan after the festive long weekend.

A greater police presence, more effective controls and concrete actions are required to dismantle the networks that operate behind these criminal acts that occur, especially in the town of Tasajera.
