A young Cuban woman who was reported missing by her family is now safe in her home after being rescued from a drifting boat near the coast of Artemisa.

The feminist platform Yo SíTeCreo in Cuba reported on its networks that Melisa Odaisi Peraza Cabrera, 24 years old and resident in Cárdenas, Matanzas, was already at home.

“We close with information from the family the #Yeniset Alert for the disappearance of Melisa Odaisi Peraza Cabrera (24 years old) from Cárdenas, Matanzas. She is already home,” he posted.

Activist Marta María Ramírez also confirmed the closure of the alert, and suggested that the family seek specialized help to eradicate the causes of the disappearance.

Likewise, he called on independent media to verify information about these sensitive cases with various sources.

Peraza Cabrera, mother of three children under four years old, was last seen on May 14, the day she left her home for Havana to meet a man she met through social networks.

On May 27, after days of unsuccessful attempts to contact her and after an acquaintance of hers saw her from afar on Ayestarán Street in Havana walking with two young men, the family filed a complaint with the Cardenas police.

However, on Sunday he contacted his family to ask for help, and said he was part of a group of 19 rafters who were lost at sea.

Yo SíTe Creo in Cuba intervened and demanded that the authorities begin the search for the rafters, seven women and 12 men.

It was learned that they were adrift somewhere on the coast of Artemisa and/or Mayabeque.

The platform did not detail how the rafters were found or what conditions they were in.
