In the village of La Concepción, in the municipality of Cómbita, in Boyacá, the authorities found a clandestine slaughterhouse where, apparently, its owners bought dead or sick cows, bulls, horses and buffaloes, and then marketed their meat in Bogotá and municipalities of Boyacá.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, those responsible for the place, after purchasing the animals in poor condition, which even included calves, slaughtered them under “poor health conditions and marketed the meat as if it were a product in perfect condition to famous owners.” “salsamentaries and restaurants”.
In the inspection of the place, it was evident that they did not have the environmental and health permits to operate, nor was there a cold chain to preserve the meat. All of this would be causing damage to the soil and water sources in the area, where liquids and solid waste generated from the sacrifices were dumped.

Given this, the place was closed. Furthermore, in the middle of the raid, a ton and a half of meat that was ready to be sold was seized and 14 animals were rescued, of which, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, nine were in a precarious state of health.
Along with this, the capture and prosecution of Deiber Daniel Casteblanco Velásquez and Daniel Casteblanco Reyes was carried out, who would be in charge of the operation of the clandestine slaughterhouse and who were charged with the crimes of corruption of food, medical products or prophylactic material; damage to natural resources, and animal abuse.
A guarantee control judge ordered, for the two men, a measure of deprivation of liberty in the place of residence.
