In a gesture of solidarity and social commitment, Fedegán-FNG delivered milk and dairy products to vulnerable communities in various regions of Colombia, starting with the department of Chocó.

Child malnutrition and relief actions

Chocó, a department with alarming figures of malnutrition, especially among children, has been the starting point of this campaign. To address this problem, the Board of Directors of the National Livestock Fund, chaired by the director of Livestock, Fisheries and Aquaculture Chains of the Ministry of Agriculture, Ingritts Marcela García, approved a significant donation of dairy products.

This donation consisted of 45,000 liters of liquid milk from Nariño and 50,000 units of double cream cheese, in individual presentations of 100 grams, of Caquetá origin. These products were delivered to the zonal centers of the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF) in the municipalities of Quibdó, Istmina, Bahía Solano, Riosucio and Tadó, with the collaboration of the Ministry of Agriculture.

Social commitment of Colombian livestock farmers

José Félix Lafaurie Rivera, executive president of FEDEGÁN, highlighted the importance of these contributions to vulnerable communities across the country. He stressed that the commitment of Colombian livestock farmers goes beyond production and is rooted in their social responsibility.

Law 89 of December 10, 1993, which established the National Livestock Fund, stipulates that at least 10% of their income must be allocated to promoting the consumption of milk and meat in favor of low-income sectors. This initiative is a reflection of that legal and moral commitment.

Scope and continuity of the program

The delivery of milk and dairy products is part of a program of Fedegán and the National Livestock Fund, which regularly serves 416 institutions in 27 departments, providing 81,000 liters of milk monthly and benefiting 20,000 people daily.

Lafaurie Rivera emphasized that these donations have been constant over the years, with more than 2.6 million liters of milk delivered between 2019 and 2023. These actions have benefited children, young people and older adults in schools and foundations throughout the country. , guaranteeing adequate nutrition for those who need it most.
