The Ministry of Security and Justice, dependent on the Provincial Government led by Ignacio “Nacho” Torres, made a series of recommendations in order to prevent scams that Chubut citizens may suffer in the case of accessing links through messaging applications that arrive to cell phones.

In this sense, the Investigations area of ​​the Chubut Police reported that the reception of messages from an alleged “free promotion manager of Mercado Libre” was detected through Whatsapp stating the following: “you were selected to work as a full-time employee partial online. This job will not affect your normal job, your salary will be between 50,000 and 200,000 pesos per day. If you need it, please contact our recruiters in time and the recruiters will teach you how to start working.”

Given this, the Chubut Police recommends that the population avoid continuing with the proposed steps because they can trigger a scam, at the same time that it is recommended that they be suspicious of offers that may have excessive benefits for the user.

It is also suggested to avoid opening links that come from an unknown contact because they can cause serious damage to personal assets.

Make the complaint

In the case of receiving messages of this type, the Chubut Police recommends that cell phone users give immediate notice to 101 or file a complaint at the police station closest to their home. Since by proceeding in this way, the Investigations and Cybercrime Divisions of the police force can take immediate intervention to investigate the characteristics of the scam.
