The centers for agroecological and agroindustrial development had an investment of $17 billion.

For its construction, the departmental administration contributed $9 billion, added to an endowment with royalty resources from the departmental administration in the order of $4 billion, while the Atlantic Seine contributed $2,785,265,156.

Its construction will allow it to serve more than 1,140 beneficiaries per year, among them small producers, family farmers, entrepreneurs and peasant associations.

Governor Eduardo Verano pointed out that this is the first Sena Value Added Center (CVA) in the entire country, and is in charge of accompanying small producers in the department in the transformation of primary products.

There is no other department in the country that invested as much in Sena nodes as here

“With this launch of these agro-industrial centers, our farmers will find new ways and new technologies for the modernization of the countryside, which will become the most important advance in science, technology and research. It will not only be for collecting and harvesting, but to grow and become future entrepreneurs in the field,” he explained.

He also pointed out that, if we do not work on large agricultural production, young people and their future in the municipalities of the department will be lost.

“What has been done in the Atlantic Seine is an example at the national level. There is no other department in the country that invested as much in Seine nodes as here,” he indicated.

Verano said that the node project was born in 2016, in a historic alliance with territorial entities, through the agreement signed on July 28 of that year, between the Government of Atlántico, the Mayor’s Office of Barranquilla and the Sena Atlántico, for the construction of 19 headquarters: 12 in the District of Barranquilla and 7 in municipalities of the Atlántico, (Soledad, Galapa, Malambo, Baranoa, Sabanalarga, Luruaco and Juan de Acosta.

Deliveries in the department began in 2019 with the Metalworking headquarters located in Malambo.

The node project in the Atlantic benefits 100,000 new apprentices annually and allowed for an expansion of the Sena infrastructure in the region.

Jackeline Rojas, director of the Atlantic regional Sena, said that with the delivery of these two agro-industrial transformation plants that will be put at the service of the peasantry of the department, the transformation of raw materials with technological equipment will be carried out, through the maquila service, adding value to raw Materials (milk, fruits, tubers, vegetables) for the production of pasteurized costeño cheese, ricotta cheese and whey as initial production at the dairy plant as well as the production of pulps, sauces, jams and fresh-cut products at the Fruver plant.

”For us it is an immense joy to deliver these two agro-industrial centers in Sabanalarga due to the vocation of this municipality that will allow more than 1,000 apprentices to benefit. In Atlántico we have marked a milestone for the institutional offer that we have achieved throughout the territory. Additionally, with the training that we have provided to the farmers,” said Rojas.
