The musical universe of 20th Century Ensemble arrive at the Artistic Season of the Federico Santa María Technical University (USM) with a concert that brings together some of the most outstanding and involving works from the beginning of the last century.

The group, made up of distinguished musicians, will perform on Saturday, June 8, at 7:00 p.m.in the emblematic Aula Magna Theaterlocated on the Casa Central Valparaíso Campus (Av. España 1680).

The group of musicians, dedicated to the interpretation of 20th century music, investigates a period that has been recognized for generating great changes in musical language, giving rise to new forms of creation. Under this vision, the ensemble will present at USM a program that brings together works by prominent European composers and contemporary Latin American authors.

In the first part of the concert, the Siglo XX Ensemble will present Gymnopedies (I and III)by Erik Satie; Prelude to a faun’s napby Claude Debussy and Kaiser Walzerby Johann Strauss II.

In the second section, works such as Scherzo for ensembleby Fabrizzio de Negri; Micropieces on an assembly gestureby Leonardo Gatica, and Sinfonietta 1953 for chamber orchestraby Astor Piazzolla.

Concert by the 20th Century Ensemble at USM

The intention of this program is to delight the public with works of special beauty; some very famous and others that can represent a discovery, even for the most music lovers.

In this regard, Gonzalo Venegas, founder and artistic director of the Ensamble Siglo XX, points out that “it is a beautiful program, the premise is to come to enjoy, listen, without any prejudice, with ears very awake, very open, to be able to discover new music. ”.

Regarding the artistic proposal of the ensemble, its director points out that “it is a kind of research workshop, of permanent work, of searching for new repertoires and languages ​​that may be attractive to us and the public. The connection is very important because we make music to bring people closer to a repertoire that is little played, little interpreted, for us that is attractive.”

The ensemble, which brings together qualities of a “small orchestra”, is composed of Ariel Claure (violin), Luis Castro (violin), Javier Ramírez (viola), Francisco Cortés (violoncello), Álvaro Toledo (double bass), Patricia Garcés (flute traversa), Jaime Fuentes (clarinet), Giordano Raggio (piano), José Díaz (percussions) and Manuel Saguriee (oboe), who are joined as guest musicians by Miguel Manzano (horn), Nelson Vinot (bassoon) and Rodrigo Quinteros (keyboard).
