During his intervention by videoconference, at the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council taking place in Nesvizh, Belarus, the Cuban head of Government highlighted the importance that the island gives to the ties with that community of nations.

In this sense, Marrero pointed out the results and challenges of the economic, commercial, financial and cooperation relations between the Antillean nation and the EAEU, a relationship that is not exempt, he said, from obstacles derived from the complex international context.

A greater link between the parties would allow promoting foreign investment in Cuba for the development of animal production, citrus, fruit, sugar, grains and seeds, as well as the joint creation of veterinary vaccines, he noted.

Likewise, he called to promote exchanges between the structures of the Eurasian Economic Commission, businessmen from the countries of the Union and Cuba, with the aim of establishing direct links to encourage trade, investment and cooperation.

Marrero recalled that on May 21, a Cuba-Eurasian Economic Union Business Forum was held, organized by the island’s Chamber of Commerce, which made it possible to learn more about the mechanisms of the EAEU.

In the meeting between that regional bloc and the Caribbean country, the promotion of cooperation and investment possibilities between the Cuban business community and its peers from the EAEU member countries was favored, he stated.

The premier praised the condition of the Antillean nation as a State fully integrated into Latin America and the Caribbean, a region that, he assured, has a very favorable framework for the development of its commercial relations, which could contribute to the economic interests of the Union. and its member states.

He stated that the commercial benefits offered allow finished products in Cuba to be exported to Latin America and the Caribbean, with substantial savings in production processes, tariffs and transportation, at a time when these costs tend to increase every year. more and more in the international market.

In another part of his speech, Marrero thanked the EAEU member states for their sustained and clear support in Cuba’s battle against the prolonged and reinforced economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States, which, he emphasized, represents the main obstacle to the development of the island. npg/lld
