For reasons that are still being investigated, A Bolivian citizen died inside a dungeon of the Carabineros sub-police station Colchanein the Tarapacá Region.
According to preliminary information, it was around 2:00 a.m. this Tuesday when Carabineros notified health personnel about an emergency in the unit.
Upon arrival, clinic officials found that Inside the cell there was a deceased 23-year-old young man, it’s been a while now. He had been arrested the day before on charges of human trafficking.
“We don’t have much background as to what happened. We only verified the scene and mentioned that obviously this person had been dead for some time since the time they called us“, reported the zone general physician assigned to the Colchane General Clinic, Andrés Vergara Jackson.

Government confirms investigation
Asked about this case, the Minister of the Interior, Carolina Toháwho is visiting the northern zone, commented that “yesterday there was an arrest of a person who is accused of human traffickingthat was returning to the border from the national territory”.
He added that the person “was intercepted, was detained and had a health complication that It is necessary to effectively establish what the origin is. He died while in a dungeon”.
“Because he was a person who was under the control of the State at that time, a very deep investigation has to be doneestablish whether all the necessary procedures were carried out to provide care, regardless of what the accusation that this person had was,” the minister warned.
