Moments of great panic were experienced this Tuesday, June 4, at the Friedrich Naumann School, located in the north of Bogotá, after the roof of one of the patios collapsed and fell on some students who were walking in the area.
The District Education Secretariat, for its part, indicated in a statement that the two young people, who are part of the sixth and eighth grade, were emergency transferred to the Children’s Cardio Foundation, where they are currently being evaluated.
“Two students from the Friedrich Naumann School were injured product of the collapse of a roof, caused by strong winds. The SED reports that, immediately, the emergency care protocols were activated to care for the two sixth and eighth grade students,” initially stated.
Then he added: “The minors received pre-hospital care by an ambulance from the Ministry of Health and were subsequently transferred to the Children’s Cardio Foundation for a complete evaluation. From the SED we regret this incident and we accompany the families of the affected students.”
The entity finally stated that the respective insurance policies were activated to attend to the students affected in this unfortunate incident, as well as to repair the roof that fell on the educational center.
“The insurance policies for this accident were activated immediately to care for the students. Likewise, the corresponding policies will be activated to repair the roof as soon as possible and the respective review of the infrastructure on the educational campus will be carried out to avoid future incidents.”he concluded.
In a video, captured by a security camera and provided to WEEKyou can see the exact moment in which part of the roof fell off, falling on top of the two students, who were quickly helped by their classmates.
It must be said that the Fire Department reported that the emergency was attended to by the Caobos station, which provided the required attention to the members of the school. The authorities confirmed that the respective investigations are already underway to determine the cause of the collapse of the structure.
